San Francisco

Hello from the Oregon Coast!  We've gone a few days without WiFi (okay, like a week).  I am presently sitting in a restaurant in Oregon waiting for my breakfast.  We'll see how far we get before my food comes.

We spent three days in the San Francisco area, all of which were a lot of fun.

Day 1

We, as you know, went to Hearst castle earlier in the day.  So, by the time we got to the San Francisco area, it was dinner time.  We drove out to Eric's Aunt's house and had a great time splashing around in the pool.  We headed back to Eric's brother's apartment, then went to bed (we were exhausted)!

Day 2

Sonoma wine day!  We, along with Eric's brother and his girlfriend, went wine tasting all day.  I know absolutely nothing about wine, so I was really just along for the ride.  Nonetheless, it was still cool to see how the wine was made, look through the vineyards, and taste everything!  After wine tasting, we traveled back into San Francisco and had a delicious four-course vegetarian meal right on the water.  Yum!

Day 3 (Happy Birthday to ME!!!)

Flower-cookies from Eric's Mom, thanks!!
On our last day in San Francisco, I got to go pick my cousin, Alex up from the airport.  She will be with us until we go to Seattle, when we will ship her back to NJ.  We spent our last day in San Francisco doing typical touristy things.
First, we went to Lombard Street, which is just the silliest street.  It zig-zags back and forth, with beautiful gardens in between.

Next was Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions, which were not at home.  Apparently the famous sea lions go to Mexico every summer to mate.  There were still a few stragglers hanging around, so at least we got to watch them for a bit.

Our biggest event of the day was a bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito.  Alex and I rode a tandem, and managed to make it across alive.  I count this among my major life accomplishments.  We hung around Sausalito for a while, and Alex and I got to shop a bit. :)  After taking the ferry back to San Francisco, we got dinner.  Overall, a fun birthday!

After San Francisco, we headed up north, which you will all get to read about later.  I'm pretty sure we've over-stayed our welcome at this restaurant!!
